GRANULOMETRIC DIVISIONS

How did we arrive at this place? How do we intend to manage our way out of the climate crisis if not by learning from our past mistakes? The clock ticks 90 seconds, tack, for midnight, the hopelessness can be grasped in the air's wetness, the dried, burned forest, in the small overpaid apartment. Wherever you go, whoever you talk to. Inequality and displacements are growing.

— One of the oldest eskers on earth was extracted from Ratina's region, reshaping Tampere's identity into what is known as the Ratina Stadion, a place for sport, wellbeing, and happiness. Granulometric Division aims to unveil old times and thus unfold how we got to where we are now.  Through displaying maps and photographs from different areas of Rataniemi in 1900, and using sand as a screen to unveil Tampere’s pastXfuture.

Sand is one of the most important commodities in the world with the smallest appreciation space. It is the most consumed raw material besides water, and it is also an indispensable resource in daily life: from toothpaste to microchips.

We require political transformation and action worldwide, as well as knowledge about the realities we face and how we arrive from point A to B, leading us to a feasible and better future with less inequality, displacement, and destruction of our environment.
